A five day Amazon tour that concentrates on Bolivia but also takes in Peru. You’ll get the chance to experience the unique wildlife that is found in the Amazon forest. From bird life to mammals and the pink river dolphins any one who loves the Amazon rainforest will enjoy this tour.

Amazon rainforest tour.

The tour begins in Rurrenabaque and takes in the Madidi rainforests. Here you will be able to see Amazonian wildlife such as

  • monkeys,
  • wild macaws,
  • parrots,
  • toucans,
  • deer,
  • wild peccaries,
  • Brazilian tapir.

As you explore closer to the river there is the wildlife associated with the wetlands and mangrove swamps.

Jungle treks and river boat rides in the Amazon.

The amazon holiday provides a range of activities from jungle treks to river boat rides and night walks to make sure you get a full wildlife experience on your 5 day break to Bolivia.

The tour takes in one of the most biodiverse nature reserves in Bolivia – the Madidi forests and the two rivers of Tuichi and Yacuma.

Day-by-day itinerary of the Bolivian Amazon Tour.

Day 1: Rurrenabaque-Tacuaral (Madidi National Park):
Meet at Rurrenabaque airfield in the morning and join the boat for our journey along the Beni and Tuichi rivers.  We journey along the river through the gorges and Madidi National Park until we reach our forest lodge at lunchtime.

The afternoon is spent on a rainforest jungle trek with a knowledgeable local guide to point out the sights and sounds of the Amazon. The evening is spent at the Tacuaral Lodge as you take in the nighttime sounds. (L, D).

Day 2: Tacuaral – Rurrenabaque:
You will wake up to the sounds of the jungle and as you take breakfast you can listen to the monkeys chattering in the trees around you. The morning is spent on a forest walk looking at the birds such as parrots and macaws. There will also be the chance to spot many other types of Amazon animals including a number of primates.

After we have taken a relaxing lunch we pack and head our next stop which is the Bolivian Savanna’s and the Yacuma River. Our stop is at Caracol Lodge in the Bolivian savannah. (B, L).

Day 3: Caracol Lodge, Pampas:
After breakfast we head o along the river in dugout canoes to spot the famous pink river dolphins the frequent the area.  There will also be plenty of opportunity to see other river based wildlife such as turtles and a wide range of birds and waterfowl.

After the trip we head back to the lunch for a relaxing dinner and evening taking in the sights and sounds around the lodge. (L, D)

Day 4: Caracol Lodge, Pampas:
The  morning is spent on the river again with a short canoe trip before we head into land to look for wildlife including the elusive Anaconda which is the world’s largest snake. 

Lunch is taken back at the lodge and then we take an afternoon hike to explore further the rich and varied wildlife of the Amazon. The evening is spent on an optional boat ride for you to experience the nocturnal sights and sounds along the Yacuma River. (B, L D).

Day 5: Pampas-Rurrenabaque-La Paz:
We journey back to Rurrenabaque following breakfast and we should arrive back in the town by mid-day. Which allows plenty of time for the afternoon  flight back to La Paz. (B).
