The backwaters in which your cruise takes place is a popular destination for many tourists and there is a well established, trained and motivated tourist industry. People in Kerala are used to and very welcoming of overseas visitors. 

An example itinerary of the river cruise holiday is:

Day 1: Arrive at noon to board the houseboat. You will meet the crew and settle in your cabins as the Kerala cruise begins. We head through the Bombay Canal and in to Vembanadu Lake where we stop for your first lunch aboard. 

The afternoon is spent cruising across the lake to Muhamma where we can stop for you to explore the village and sample the delights of the market and handicrafts.  We then continue cruising until early evening when we set anchor for our overnight stop.

Day 2: You get to enjoy your breakfast aboard before we set sail for a cruise to Kumarakom where we can take a break and explore the bird sanctuary. A little more cruising before we stop for lunch.

The afternoon is spent cruising through Maran Kayal and Pazhukkanila  before another early evening anchor.

Day 3: Todays river cruise in Kerala will take us through Rajapuram Kayal, Kavalam, Pulincunnoo and Onnamkara where we anchor for our overnight stay.

Day 4: A gentle morning river crise awaits us today as we head through the Akkathara Canal and into Mangalam Kayal for our lunch stop.

The afternoon is spent going through areas such as D’ Block and Kuttithodu. There can also be an opportunity to visit a special spiritual shrine and sanctuary at the famous Chavara Bhavan. We then continue our cruise to Meenappally for our night stop.

Day 5: Today you may choose to visit the snake boat and St Mary’s Church as we head along the river through Nedumudy to Champakkulam for lunch. 

The Afternoon is spent free for you to visit the Mannar market where you can explore lots of local produce in this busy town. alternatively you may choose to visit the many shrines found here.  After your visit we find a suitable place to tie up and spend the night.

Day 6: The morning is spent exploring the lush scenery and wildlife rich backwaters as we pass through Thottappally.  

The afternoon is spent cruising to Karumadi where we spend time and allow you to visit the famous temple of Sree Krishna or may be Karumadi Kuttan. Our night mooring is spent at Kanjipadam.

Day 7: A short morning cruise will take us to Pallathuruthy where you say goodbye to your boat crew and transfer to the next stage of your holiday in India.
