Guyana Aerial Tours
Discover the wealth of the rainforest in Guyana with a full day exploring by air. An early morning start will see us depart from the airport to fly over vast areas of lush green vegetation that make up the Guyanese rainforest.
12 hour flight tour across the rainforest.
The 12 hour tour will take in the forests, waterfalls, rivers and savannahs. Sites of special attention will include the the Pakaraima Mountain Range and the Essequibo River. We will fly over old gold mines and The International Centre for Rainforest Conservation and Development where scientists from around the world work to discover more about life on the planet.
Not all the day is spent in the air, there will be the chance to land and explore some sites in much more detail. The first stop will be at Rock View Nature Resort at Annai at the base of Guyana’s highest mountain. Here we’ll take a guided walk after breakfast to find out more about the area.
The Rock View Nature Resort is an ecotourism centre that was built on the site of an old 1950′s cattle ranch and lies on the outskirts of the North Rupununi Savannahs.
Flight tours over rainforest, mountains, rivers and waterfalls.
The flight continues as we fly over the Rupununi Savannahs and take it an aerial view of Shea Rock which is said to be the biggest single rock in South America. Our flight path then takes us along the Rupununi River, through the Kanuku Mountain Range to Karanambu,
At Karanambu we take another short stop to give you the chance to experience the wildlife of the region and in particular the giant otters – known as water dogs. We then move on to Lethem for a lunch stop. The town is a border town between Guyana and Brazil.
After lunch it’s a flight over the local mountain range to stop at Orinduik Falls where you get the chance to relax and swim in the pristine waters. This series of waterfalls lies in a green and lush mountain environment. Tannins are dissolved in the water from the leaves of the local rain forest and this leaves your skin and hair smooth and refreshed after a swim. It’s a natural body treatment.
The final stop of the day is at the world famous Orinduik Falls. The falls are 5 times higher than the Niagara Falls and about double the height of the Victoria Falls. The size of the falls and the sheer amount of water that flows over it present a truly impressive sight.
Start time of tour is 06.00 when the aircraft departs from Ogle airport, the tour will arrive back at Ogle at approx 18.00.
